Today the travel ban lifts and we get to embrace the entirety of the island of Ireland once more. With the government hailing this ‘an outdoor summer’, practicing Leave No Trace has never been more relevant. April passed in a blur with some highlights including the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, calling for applications for €14 million in funding for outdoor recreation and the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan announcing a total of over €8 million funding for litter prevention and anti-dumping in preparation for the summer.

Within Leave No Trace headquarters, we hosted ‘An Introduction to Leave No Trace’ webinar, launched the ERASMUS+ SEE project (Sustainability and Environmental Education in Outdoor Sports) with a webinar hosted by the Europarc Federation and ran a campaign for Earth Day where we interviewed The Happy PearGalz Gone Wild Founder Mel McDermott and mountaineer Noel Hanna.

Now, we’re looking forward to the month ahead, where we’re showing no signs of slowing down, with a national public awareness campaign to be launched over the summer months – watch this space! Thank you again to you, our community, for your support. Please keep advocating for a healthier, more vibrant outdoor environment. We’ll be with you every step of the way.
