Maura Kiely
CEO
Maura is an environmentalist, an outdoor guide and PhD researcher in nature conservation and outdoor recreation with the University of Galway. Her first and foremost love is spending time immersed in nature and the natural world with her family. Maura feels very passionate about educating and inspiring people of all ages and abilities to get outdoors. She has spend many years kayaking, hiking, climbing, skiing and sailing around the world. Her ambition in her role of CEO of Leave No Trace Ireland is to help people to form a personal and ethical relationship with the environment that leads to actions that create a sustainable planet for the future.
Rachel Shawe
Operations Manager
Rachel is Leave No Trace Ireland’s Operations Manager. Her work involves corporate membership and projects, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, corporate management and duties to the Board of Directors. In her current role with Leave No Trace Ireland she has also coordinated the Love This Place, Leave No Trace public awareness campaigns 2021 and 2022.
Noel Doyle
Project Coordinator
Noel was awarded his PhD in October 2020 from the Institute of Technology Tralee. Noel developed a framework illustrating the factors necessary to engender responsible recreational behaviour in Ireland. Noel’s primary role in Leave No Trace Ireland revolves around the coordination of an Erasmus + Project called the Sustainability and Environmental Education in Outdoor Sports and Recreation (SEE) Project.
Tracey Kenny
Office & Membership Administrator
Tracey joined the Leave No Trace team in October 2021, and brings with her 16 years of Office Administration and Accounts experience.
Tracey holds two bachelor’s degrees, in English Language and Literature, and Liberal Arts and Sciences. She also holds qualifications in Book-Keeping and Digital Marketing.
Julie Carr
Communications Officer
Julie has over two decades of experience in the media industry, spanning digital marketing, print, public relations, advertising, and television production. She has worked in a wide variety of sectors including hospitality and sustainable tourism.
Julie holds a BSc in Digital Marketing and Design from the Technological University of Ireland and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from Glasgow Caledonian University.
Gavin Bettlestone
Education Officer
Gavin has been delivering educational experiences for Leave No Trace as part of his career in Outdoor Education for more than ten years. He has delivered training across 3 continents at varying levels for schools, corporates and trainers. Gavin has focused much of his career on curriculum development with an aim to bring to life the most innovative methodologies to deliver meaningful and impactful learning experiences, and is excited about the opportunities to continue that work with Leave No Trace Ireland.
Ivana Connor
Training and Administration Assistant
Ivana has worked with a biodiversity company called ABC of Gardening for nearly 10 years. Currently with her role in Leave No Trace Ireland, Ivana is working alongside all the trainers promoting the Leave No Trace principles.
As a graduate from University College Dublin, Ivana holds a Masters in Agricultural Science in Environmental Resource Management, she also holds an undergraduate in Social Science, with a structured elective Towards a Sustainable and Healthy Society: Food, Agriculture and the Environment.
Seamus Meagher
Accountant & Human Resources
Seamus Meagher joined the Leave No Trace Ireland team in 2023 as our financial accountant and HR management.
Clare Masterson
Project Officer
Clare joined the Leave No Trace team in June 2022 as a designated project coordinator for the Dark Sky Ireland Project and brings with her extensive experience in both customer services and the tourism sector, as well as credentials as a Leave No Trace Trainer and Mayo Dark Sky Park Ambassador.
