This month we’re taking part in #BiodiversityWeek, the Dublin Mountains Partnership‘s #DublinMountainsFestival, and will be out with Dark Sky Ireland for their biodiversity events!
 

We have some incredible events coming up, make sure to book now to save your spot! 

  • 12th: Awareness Course in Larch Hill with Dublin Mountains Partnership – Dublin 
  • As part of the Dublin Mountains Festival join Leave No Trace and the Dublin Mountains Partnership for a free Awareness Course running in Larch Hill.
    The Certified Awareness Course runs for one day. It is designed for individuals and groups who are interested in learning more about Leave No Trace, in a hands-on stimulating outdoor learning environment. The course takes place entirely outdoors and will share tools and techniques for disseminating low-impact skills across the Island of Ireland, and beyond.
  • 18th: Outsider Awards Clean Up at Sandymount Strand – Dublin
    Join Leave No Trace and the Outsider Awards for a special event during Biodiversity Week as we team up for a coastal clean-up along the stunning Sandymount Strand. Together, we’ll work to protect and preserve this beautiful natural habitat, ensuring it remains a thriving ecosystem for generations to come.
  • 20th: Dark Skies & Biodiversity – Enniscrone, Co. Sligo
    Join Ruth Hanniffy, Biodiversity Officer at Sligo County Council and Conservation Biologist as she leads us on a wonderful journey through Sligo’s night time biodiversity, and educates us on how we can all do our part to protect it.
  • 21st: Dark Skies, Bats & Biodiversity – Westport, Co. Mayo
    From Westport Library, we will start our evening with some information on Ireland’s 9 species of bats, and the importance of keeping ecological corridors intact for wildlife. Members of Dark Sky Ireland and the Mayo Dark Skies project will join to explain Mayo’s goal for a dark sky reserve and to present tools and tips for stargazing when the skies are clear.
  • 24th: Dark Skies & Biodiversity – Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary
    This event will focus on the effects of lighting on biodiversity with a new video from Kerem Asfuroglu – a dark sky lighting expert and Dark Sky Ireland Committee Member. This will be followed by a sky viewing on Market Square with astronomer John Flannery.
  • 25th: Accessibility Walk with Shamrock Squad – Coole Park, Co. Galway
    Join us for an inclusive and accessible walk in celebration of Biodiversity Week, hosted by Leave No Trace Ireland and the Shamrock Squad. We’ll gather at the car park around 10 am for a brief introduction before setting off on the scenic Seven Woods Trail.
  • 25th: Biodiversity Walk & Talk with Dublin Mountains Partnership at Ticknock – Dublin
    Join Leave No Trace during Biodiversity Week, in collaboration with the Dublin Mountain Partnership as part of their Dublin Mountains Festival on a journey through the enchanting Ticknock Forest starting from Fernhill Gardens . Led by a knowledgeable Leave No Trace Ireland trainer, immerse yourself in the rich biodiversity of this natural haven. Explore lush trails, uncovering the secrets of vibrant flora and elusive fauna.
