Upcoming Leave No Trace Training Opportunities

The whole Leave No Trace ethos is founded in outdoor education – so today, we’re highlighting some of the courses we have coming up! There are three primary levels to our Leave No Trace training; the Awareness Course; The Trainer Course; and the Advanced Trainer Course. Each of these is a certified qualification, taking you from the basics of Leave No Trace and our 7 Principles, to delivering awareness courses and teaching others how to as well.

Leave No Trace Awareness Course

The Leave No Trace Awareness course is the first step on our education ladder. This one-day event is ideally suited to anyone who enjoys being outside, including outdoor educators, teachers, college students, outdoor pursuit and recreation professionals, hiking club members, Tidy Towns Committees or community groups.

This course focuses on how Leave No Trace skills and ethics can help protect our environment and outdoor spaces and promote responsible, sustainable outdoor pursuits and recreation. These skills are taught through the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace.

Leave No Trace Trainer Course

Building on the introductory skills developed in the Certified Awareness Course the two-day Leave No Trace Trainer Course is a vital component of the national Leave No Trace Ireland programme. This two-day course is designed for individuals who will be delivering Leave No Trace Ireland Awareness Courses in the future or incorporating Leave No Trace in other programmes.

Leave No Trace Advanced Trainer Course

The five-day Advanced Trainer Course is the highest level of training provided by Leave No Trace Ireland. This course provides participants with a comprehensive training on Leave No Trace skills and principles, taught through practical application during a largely field-based course. Participants learn minimum impact techniques through multiple methods including discussions, scenarios, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

An Online Introduction to Leave No Trace

Launched last year, this online course is designed to give an overview of Leave No Trace to anyone interested. It introduces you to the vision and work of Leave No Trace Ireland, including:

how Leave No Trace skills and ethics can help protect our environment and outdoor spaces and promote responsible, sustainable outdoor pursuits and recreation.
the role of the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace in achieving these goals.
the impact that sporting, recreational and leisure activities can have on our natural environment.

This online course can be done at any time, and taking around 45minutes to complete.
