Louise lives in Mayo and since the late eighties was a part of a hill walking group in Castlebar. In the early nineties Louise had the opportunity to go to the Himalayas with a group so her love for long distance walking became a part of her training along with the hill walking. Louise also went to East Africa twice to Kilimanjaro. She did the Mountain skills courses in Achill Outdoor Centre and regularly put them to practise on Croagh Patrick and the hills of Mayo and Connemara

Louise now after years of Hillwalking, has further enhanced her love for the outdoors by becoming a Dragon Boat Helm and Paddler at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar, where she trains twice weekly.

Through these outdoor activities and also through some fundraising challenges she organised on Croagh Patrick, Louise became very aware of her surroundings and particularly the impact that activities have on the environment, so she adapted the Leave No Trace policies to all her activities, ensuring that everything was left as it was found.
