Emma Fortune is Board Secretary and Governance Officer at Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI), responsible for the effective functioning of the board and its committees, the development and management of IFI’s governance policies and procedures and overseeing the organisation’s adherence to the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies 2016.

Emma is also responsible for leading the governance of IFI’s Child Safeguarding and Garda Vetting processes. Having qualified with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German and Economics, Emma completed a postgraduate Diploma in Business Studies at NUI Galway. She subsequently trained as an Accounting Technician, Payroll Technician and completed Certified Public Accountant examinations to P1 level and recently completed the Professional Certificate in Governance at the Institute of Public Administration achieving a first class honour.

Before joining IFI in 2008, Emma worked in both the not-for-profit (training) and private sectors (financial software).
