Maura holds an Honors BSc from University College Cork, a MSc in Public Affairs and a BSc in Psychology. She is currently undertaking a part time PhD with NUIG School of Natural Sciences, which explores stakeholder engagement in conservation and outdoor recreation.
Maura worked overseas for Enterprise Ireland, within the Digital and Environmental sector coordinating Ministerial and Presidential Trade Missions for High Potential Start-up Irish companies to grow in Northern Europe. She also worked with Fáilte Ireland in assisting the development of Irelands first Coastal Blueway recreational trails. Maura has been awarded for her efforts in innovation at the ‘UCC entrepreneur Awards’ as well by her volunteer efforts as “Volunteer Citizen of the year” by the President of Ireland.
Maura is passionate about continuous self-improvement and leading by example. She undertakes regular mentoring and coaching and enjoys discovering new ways that are available for optimum health and wellness. She is a Leave No Trace Advanced Trainer and also holds senior outdoor qualifications and experience in white-water kayaking, canoeing, snorkelling, power boating, sailing, life-guarding, surfing, climbing and Mountaineering. She has recently completed her first trans-Atlantic voyage from the Caribbean to the Azores. Maura currently sits on the Council for Gaisce – The President’s Award..
