We are delighted to announce we have been shortlisted in the 2021 Charity Impact Awards  2021!

The COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact on which sports Irish people take part in, with individual sports and activities such as walking, running and cycling experiencing unprecedented growth, one report from sport Ireland saw participation in outdoor recreation and sport double during the pandemic. The increase in outdoor recreation over the last 18 months has led to a dramatic increase in litter, water pollution, as well as disturbance to vegetation, wildlife, livestock and other people.

 

Leave No Trace Ireland is Ireland’s only outdoor ethics programme, which promotes the responsible use of the outdoors. Leave No Trace Ireland enables all users to reduce their impacts.

  • We provide guidelines and examples of best practices to enable and support individuals, communities, organisations and companies in reducing the environmental impact of outdoor activities.
  • Leave No Trace is hands-on, interactive learning that sparks the imagination and unlocks creativity
  • We provide leadership for our members and help foster a new generation of informed consumers, workers, as well as policy or decision-makers.
  • We strive for greater levels of collaboration and co-creation in all the projects that we take part in. Furthermore, we are dedicated to protecting Ireland’s countryside and outdoors.

The Charity Impact Awards, hosted by The Wheel, celebrate the work of charities, community groups and voluntary organisations that have changed Ireland for the better.

The past eighteen months has shown Ireland the irreplaceable role that charities, social enterprises, and community and voluntary groups play in society. They provide a vast range of services, supports, and opportunities to our communities, and have been a lifeline for many during the COVID-19 crisis.
