Introduction

The Regional Trainer Meet-up is a chance for trainers to come together and meet face to face for a well-paced day on Bull Island, Dublin, filled with engaging discussions, lively practical sessions, and networking opportunities. The meet-up will mostly take place outdoors and will encourage trainers to share a skill and/or activity with one another that helps us all in our outdoor education. This will also provide a forum to discuss what we can do at Leave No Trace to help you as a trainer.

We’ll also be able to provide any Leave No Trace materials you may need as a trainer. If you do need any resources, please let us know by no later than January 18th.

Skill/Activity Swap

During this session, each trainer will be encouraged to share an outdoor skill/activity/story or piece of knowledge with the rest of the group. This will allow the group to provide feedback on the given activity while also increasing all participants knowledge and skills in teaching responsible outdoor recreation and the seven principles of Leave No Trace.

  • These ‘swaps’ can be anything from 5 – 20 minutes long depending on what suits you best.

Big Beach Biodiversity Survey

Mixing some environmental actions with our CPD, we will carry out a Big Beach Biodiversity Survey on Dollymount Strand at Bull Island. The data collected can then be logged with the National Biodiversity Data Centre. This is a great activity to run on the shore with groups.

  • ID keys will be provided but please feel free to bring along your own as well.
