Join us for a free, family-friendly celebration of Heritage Week and the Croagh Patrick Volunteer Ambassador Programme! Participants will meet the Ambassadors, engage in interactive Leave No Trace training, and shadow the Ambassadors on the mountain as mini Croagh Patrick Ambassadors for the day.
This event aims to raise public awareness of the Croagh Patrick Volunteer Ambassador Programme, highlight the local heritage, and promote Leave No Trace principles. Two accredited trainers and at least six Volunteer Ambassadors will guide participants, teaching them how to plan ahead and prepare for a family fun hike along Croagh Patrick.
Groups will enjoy a guided storytelling hike, stopping at significant points along the route. Participants will also take part in a litter pick, learning how to categorize what they collect for survey purposes. Winners of interactive games and activities throughout the event will receive Leave No Trace prizes.
With over 120,000 annual visitors, Croagh Patrick faces challenges such as path erosion on privately-owned land. This event, through the Volunteer Ambassador Programme, seeks to educate and inspire care for the mountain. Join us to learn, have fun, and help protect this natural treasure.
