The IMPRINT+ project – a review

The IMPRINT+ project, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, promotes an environmentally friendly lifestyle by empowering young people to become active in protecting their environment and changing it for the better. The goal is to make them understand that leaving a positive footprint on the planet is essential for everyone. The project takes an inclusive approach by involving local communities, schools and authorities and encouraging them to understand the power they have to make a big difference by implementing small changes.

Great things have been achieved over the last three years in which the project has been successfully implemented in five European countries: Austria, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. The project partner consortium has done its best to develop a course, aimed at teachers and youth workers, which provides them with techniques to engage their students in environmental topics and inspire them to leave a positive imprint on the planet. In addition to this, there have been several editions of student events in which young Europeans had the chance to learn how to leave a positive impact on the planet. Through coursework, fun class activities, field trips, hands-on activities, and personal encounters with nature, students learn about the environment and are able to experience nature from a new, personal perspective. One of the main goals of IMPRINT+’s efforts is to show young people what they can do to help make the world a better and healthier place.

In addition to the IMPRINT+ course, a number of other resources have been developed in this project such as a comprehensive research report, an ecological assessment tutorial, a tutorial for young people interested in becoming entrepreneurs in the green economy, and a web app which lets its users calculate their carbon footprint and offers appropriate offset actions. All of these resources and products are available for free on the project website http://imprintplus.org

The IMPRINT+ final report

Before the IMPRINT+ project ends, a final report will be released which gives a comprehensive and complete summary of the entire IMPRINT+ project. The report will consist of:

  • an overview of the project, its background, target group, and objectives
  • a list of all resources developed in the project including brief descriptions and main features of all these products and documents
  • an overview of the project results in figures and testimonials

The report highlights all of the project’s successes and illustrates how IMPRINT+ has already had a positive impact on many young Europeans and hopefully continues to do so.
