As a keen hillwalker, both in Ireland and abroad, Maeve has a huge interest in the outdoors. She completed the Mountain Skills Cert in Tiglin, Co. Wicklow, some years ago and has also done a Map Reading course with her hillwalking club.  While teaching, she assisted in leading groups of students on mountain hikes, during school trips.

Maeve worked as a supervisor in Dunnes Stores, in Dublin, before she did her Commerce degree and as an experienced educator, she is trained in conflict resolution. She’s also been a sailing instructor (spare time), with Glenans Sailing Club on Collanmore Island, Co. Mayo.

Maeve is familiar with the history of Croagh Patrick and also its geology.  Her connection is that she really enjoys climbing it and is very committed to its conservation. She is familiar with the erosion which has occurred in upland habitats near Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, as a result of overuse and is therefore passionate about promoting enjoyment of “Ireland’s Holy Mountain”, in a way that ensures its preservation.
