David McCann is a marine biologist and enthusiastic diver, with a passion for all things outdoors – ocean or land-based.  He is often found exploring the mountains and islands around Donegal, most likely looking out for rare wildlife to be found there.

His life’s passion is promoting the protection of the natural world, and inspiring and enabling others to take action too. David has been leading outreach programmes for over a decade – most notably in Sabah, Borneo, where he also ran a turtle hatchery and rehabilitation unit and championed the Green Fins movement for sustainable and responsible practices in the dive industry.

David is an advocate for the role of citizen science in furthering conservation efforts, notably for sharks, rays and skates.
