Cathleen is happiest outdoors, whether it is out on her home hills in west Mayo or the mountains around Chamonix. She is a HR professional but also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Tourism & Development and previously worked as a Rural Recreation Officer. This role gave her a better understanding of outdoor recreation as viewed from the participant, the landowners and the group proposing the development. If she could revisit the role, she would reiterate the importance of Leave no Trace Principles for all those working on recreational projects, particularly the footprint left on the natural environment when developing walking and cycling trails.
