Leave No Trace Ireland are delighted to announce the launch of their new Biodiversity Community Toolkit. The programme was funded by South West Mayo Development Company CLG through their Rural Development Programme (LEADER).
The new biodiversity training programme was delivered in partnership with South West Mayo and ecologists from Giorria Environmental Services. The programme delivered a custom biodiversity training workshop for 5 Tidy Towns groups in Mayo. The workshops helped raise awareness of local biodiversity and showed how this is linked to the Leave No Trace ethos and outdoor recreation.
The training involved two evening workshops of approximately 2 hours each. This was followed up with a biodiversity event linked to an existing community event. The final output in the programme is our new community toolkit, giving advice and suggestions on how you can protect your blue and green spaces while enhancing the local biodiversity.
