Leave No Trace would like to congratulate Kinvara Tidy Towns for their exceptional entry in this year’s Special Award. The various initiatives carried out by Kinvara Tidy Towns showed they are working hard to embrace Leave No Trace principles.
Kinvara Tidy Towns initiatives included;
- Kinvara Earthkeeper Programme
This programme is all about promoting children spending time in nature with their families, having fun and protecting the environment fostering a love and respect for the outdoors from an early age.
- No Single Use Plastic Policy
Kinvara Tidy Towns have engaged the whole community in their efforts to promote a Leave No Trace ethos adopting a no single use plastic policy in the community centre, working closely with Kinvara Plastic Free Group.
- Power of Social Media
The promotion of Leave No Trace and personal responsibility to bring home litter has been shared across their social media pages, opening up healthy discussions about roles, responsibilities and behaviours compared to the provision of bins.
- Collaboration
To initiate behavioural change Kinvara Tidy Towns teamed up with Foroige, Earthkeepers, Kinvara Climate Change, and Dolmen (group for adults with disabilities) acting as role models to further the promotion and adoption of the Leave No Trace Principles across the community.
