Kilsheelan in Clonmel win this years Leave No Trace Ireland Tidy Towns Special Award 2024

Huge congratulations to Kilsheelan Tidy Towns in Kilsheelan, Clonmel—winners of the Leave No Trace Ireland Special Purpose Award in this year’s Tidy Towns Competition!

Now in its fifth year, the Leave No Trace Tidy Towns Special Award recognises communities for their significant efforts to protect and enhance the natural environment and the promotion of responsibility in the outdoors.

Kilsheelan has made environmental stewardship a community mission, applying Leave No Trace principles with initiatives like  tree planting,  invasive species removal,  eco-friendly mowing, and educational signage along the Blueway. Your dedication sets an inspiring standard for sustainable communities nationwide!

A special mention to Ballincollig in County Cork, celebrated as Ireland’s Tidiest Town and the overall winner in the Large Urban Centre category! This year’s Tidy Towns competition saw 904 towns compete, with over 600 volunteers attending the awards. The incredible impact of the Tidy Towns program shines across Ireland, fostering inclusion, sustainability, and community spirit.

The Prize: Awareness Training for 15 people valued at €1,100, access to online Leave No Trace Resources and promotion across social media.
