Go Green: Major Milestone Achieved

Go Green has successfully concluded its series of Training courses, making a significant milestone in our journey towards sustainability and local action for the Green Deal. As we move forward, our focus now shifts to engaging with the broader public through dissemination events and sharing the variable outputs created.

Transportation and Energy: 3-6th October 2023

In Belgium, participants engaged in a series of discussion and activities led by experts aimed at exploring sustainable mobility practices and supporting the energy transition. The Group moved using electric shared bikes, experiencing what it’s like to live in a city designed to support and smooth mobility

ZuidrAnt, an energy citizen cooperative, provided a guided tour of a system that uses residual heat from industrial furnaces to warm surrounding households. Innovations and new sustainable materials for construction were presented at Camp C and ecological and social optimization of urban buildings was also discussed with practical examples

Land planning and Biodiversity conservation: Municipality of Louisada, 20-23rd Feb 2024

In Portugal participants could see first hand how local actors can promote biodiversity and their territories, visiting several sits of nature restoration and learning techniques to preserve different European species. An array of experts provided practical insight on the promotion of rural territories and local products, short consumption chains, the importance of regenerative agriculture and even preservation of coastal areas.

VERGE, a local environmental NGO explained ecosystem services and the role of the carbon market in preserving natural heritage. Group dynamics enabled the stakeholders to not only share their own experience and challenges with the topics, but also develop solutions together to improve the environmental performance of their territories resulting in rich exchanges and discussions.

Environmental education, communication and social engagement: Leave Not Trace Ireland & ASPEA: 28-31 May 2024

In Ireland, the group was presented with expert-led dynamic session on effective communication strategies, enhancing social engagement and promoting environmental education across all kinds of stakeholders. The agenda was complimented by field trips around Castlebar and Westport to visit passionate community led projects. The participants explored how social project can help preserve coastline areas, urban green spaces and promote a sustainable outdoor use. They also delved into local sustainability policies, and a strong emphasis was made on community involvement having the chance to meet ambassadors and volunteers or the different projects presented.
