Tonight see the launch of the Leave No Trace Biodiversity pilot training programme for Tidy Towns groups in Mayo. Westport Tidy Towns are the first group to host the workshops. The new biodiversity training programme is being delivered in partnership with South West Mayo and ecologists from Giorria Environmental Services. The programme will deliver a custom biodiversity training workshop for each location. The workshops will help raise awareness of local biodiversity and show how this is linked to the Leave No Trace ethos and outdoor recreation. The training will involve two evening workshops of approximately 2 hours each. This will be followed up with a biodiversity event in each participating location.
Mulranny Tidy Towns will host their workshop tomorrow night October 10th. Further workshops are planned for Belmullet, Balla, and Castlebar.
