Now in its 4th year the Galway based Why Not? Adventure Film Festival will be returning to An Taibhdhearc on Oct 10th following it’s sold out show last year. 167 films from 37 countries were submitted this year with only 14 being selected for the official programme.
“We’re absolutely thrilled by the volume of world class films we received this year” remarks Graham Clarke the festivals director. “In our first year we received less than 20. So the high volume of entries has been very rewarding. Since 2012 we have been working hard to put the event on the international adventure film festival map. And it seems to be paying off! ”
The Galway event, which is being presented and supported by local business Landon Carver is scheduled to take place over a full day. In addition to the three separate film programmes there will also be a free Leave No Trace outdoor workshop and three inspirational guest speakers. One of whom is Irish women Olive Mc Gloin – the first women in history to walk a return journey of the Pacific Crest Trail. A journey of over 5,300 miles. It’s the same 2,650-mile route (one way) that Reese Witherspoon’s character walks some 1,000 miles of in the film Wild
From Galway the film festival travels to Castlebar, Dublin, Cork & Sligo and is expected to reach over 1,000 people.
Leave No Trace are delivering a wrokshop at the Galway event. For further details please contact Ciaran at [email protected].
