Volunteering with Leave No Trace creates real benefits for local communities and gives workers across the organisation the opportunity to collaborate on a project, many of whom may not have known each other previously. This week staff members from Verizon Media joined Leave No Trace facilitators to learn about outdoor ethics and the 7 principles of Leave No Trace and how they are relevant everywhere, from our local park to the great outdoors. This was followed by a comprehensive clean up along the Royal Canal, an area used by The Adventure Project.
The day began with an introduction to Leave No Trace and how individuals can make small changes that can have a ripple effect in the workplace. The group then heard about the work of The Adventure Project, a not for profit organisation running therapeutic adventure programmes for addiction services, young people in care, crime diversion projects and the prison service.
The staff from Verizon were encouraged to bring a Zero Waste lunch for the day and to commit to practise Leave No Trace techniques back in the workplace.
