Leave No Trace partners with Wild Nephin/Ballycroy National Park to celebrate Outdoor Classroom Day 2018 with Free Workshops for schools

Leave No Trace Ireland are delighted to partner with Wild Nephin/Ballycroy National Park to offer a limited number of FREE workshops to primary schools in Mayo during November to celebrate Outdoor Classroom Day, https://outdoorclassroomday.org.uk/about/.

Linking in with the SESE curriculum, the workshops will explore our native species, chat about conservation and look at the wildlife living right on the children's doorstep. The team will bring along some taxidermy, bones and ecology equipment to allow the children to get a hands-on experiential learning opportunity. Following this, the class will use the school grounds as a study area and try out techniques in invertebrate collection and I.D. and look at some plant species. Children will explore the concept of protecting their environment and learn how they can minimise their impact through simple actions. Sessions last roughly 1-2 hours depending on the class level and we are happy to take groups with a max. of 30 students per session.
